Lawrence tried once more, firing off a text to a number they'd set up that she controlled. His phone struggled with it for a few moments before turning up a 'message unsent' error. Maybe he'd get better luck in the house where at least the tech had been shielded from the EMP. He wasn't holding out much hope honestly.

He shoved the phone back into his pocket and stood up, grabbing his backpack and sliding it onto his shoulders.

He spotted the guy watching him when he turned back towards the road. Well, that was interesting. Might be nothing. Might be a pain in the arse if Stanton or one of the others had decided to try tracking him down. Different route back to the house then. Just in case. Maybe he should think about heading back north.
