And who needed a phone when you'd previously had a direct neural link with a super intelligent sentient AI who could just feed you whatever information you needed.

He rooted around for a charger and managed to plug it in to one of the solar cells which he was mostly relying on now for smaller stuff. It slowly started to charge.

"I can't say I know much about that. I'm just a research student, not a soldier. Is that what you do? In the army? And don't worry about it. I'm glad to help out where I can, even if there's not much I can do."
