[ Steve hadn't really expected Peggy to say anything about the scenery they passed through, packed streets full of foreign sights. He had been speechless when he'd raced into the middle of Times Square to be bombarded with images and technologies he couldn't begin to understand at the time. He's come a long way since then, and Peggy will make the same journey and probably make it look effortless.
Though Steve does notice the way that she clings on to him during the ride, and he knows it's not because she's afraid of falling off. He's the only thing about the world that makes sense to her right now, he imagines. Steve's glad she at least has that much, because he hadn't.
As promised, the ride is a quick one, Steve knowing some of the shortcuts through alleys that allow them to avoid the heavier traffic of the city. He points out his apartment building to Peggy as soon as it comes into view, then eases his bike into his assigned parking space outside.
He turns the bike off, locks it, and then swings his leg over to dismount, turning to Peggy and focusing in on her rather than on their surroundings. If it weren't for the cars and billboards, it would seem like any other semi-residential street.
Steve sets his hand on Peggy's shoulder and gives it a squeeze, staring into her eyes. ] You hanging in there okay? [ He's got the lunch packs hanging from his elbow; hopefully they haven't been jostled too much by the drive. ]
