Though Steve does notice the way that she clings on to him during the ride, and he knows it's not because she's afraid of falling off. He's the only thing about the world that makes sense to her right now, he imagines. Steve's glad she at least has that much, because he hadn't.
As promised, the ride is a quick one, Steve knowing some of the shortcuts through alleys that allow them to avoid the heavier traffic of the city. He points out his apartment building to Peggy as soon as it comes into view, then eases his bike into his assigned parking space outside.
He turns the bike off, locks it, and then swings his leg over to dismount, turning to Peggy and focusing in on her rather than on their surroundings. If it weren't for the cars and billboards, it would seem like any other semi-residential street.
Steve sets his hand on Peggy's shoulder and gives it a squeeze, staring into her eyes. ] You hanging in there okay? [ He's got the lunch packs hanging from his elbow; hopefully they haven't been jostled too much by the drive. ]

The bike slows to a halt but she barely even processes it, her hands holding onto Steve's sides for a moment longer even as he dismounts, finally letting go. She licks her lips and swallows dryly, taking slow, steadying breaths, eyes just a little wide and not entirely capable from hiding the shock and awe in her expression.
She looks at Steve when he talks, a hand reaching for his arm, using it for support as she dismounts the bike too. ] Yes, I... I'm alright. I think. [ She'll get over this initial clash eventually. It wasn't all that bad, all things considered, so she tries for a smile. ] Thank you. That was... actually, not so terrible.

[ Steve pulls his hand back, but he keeps his arm within reaching distance in case Peggy wants to hold on to it for support. While he doubts that she will, never one to let herself be seen as weak in public, Steve always makes sure that she has that option all the same.
He leads them to the front door of the building, feeling a strange twisting in his stomach as they approach. He's about to let Peggy see where he lives, every little personal detail that has slowly accumulated in his apartment, and that shouldn't make him nervous but it does. All the same, he punches the code in and holds the door open for her, nodding to the elevators across the hall. ] I'm on the sixth floor. Let's just be glad it's not a walk-up, right? [ Those had always been more common in NYC. ]

Shock may be dulling her senses a little, actually. But she hopes not to let all this get to her. Steve has done a wonderful job at supporting her through it all too, but she fears how this will come down on her once she's alone again.
Thankfully she's not thinking about that right now. Focusing on one step at a time, Peggy rests her hand on his arm as they make their way to his building, looking around again and her eyes finally landing on the lift, then moving towards Steve. A smile plays at her lips, a little teasing. ]
Don't tell me age finally got to you, Steve. Can't handle a few flights of stairs? [ Still, she makes her way to the lift, easily figuring out how it works and clicking the call button. ]

Which goes without saying, seeing how he's taking her into her apartment. It's bizarre to realize that almost all of their interactions had been on the battlefield or at the encampment, that they've never truly seen how the other lives when it doesn't involve sleeping on a cot and eating rations that barely count as real food.
He wants to show her so much, from every piece of technology that awed him to all the amazing food that the modern day has to offer.
When she teases him about his age, though, Steve just scoffs and shakes his head. ] Not you too. I get enough of that from everyone else. [ There's a hint of a smile on his lips, though, so he obviously doesn't mind that much. The fact that Peggy's here to give him a hard time in the first place is what matters to him. ]

Well, that and... she wants to be with him, plain and simple. If she has any say in it she won't take her eyes off of him anytime soon. The love of her life, the one she thought she'd lost so long ago— alive and well, after all. It's irrational but she fears that if they part, this will turn out to be no more than a dream.
A soft laugh leaves her at his answer, and she shrugs, looking entirely unapologetic. ] I couldn't resist. Although I suppose I'm in no place to talk. [ She is in a much similar predicament, after all. ] You do look very fit for a man well over his nineties.

He figures that's just how it is when you have feelings for someone.
Maybe that's why the flirtation falls out of his mouth, even as the elevator doors slide open and he steps inside, pushing the button for his floor. ] You're not looking too bad yourself, you know. [ Which is particularly impressive considering the whirlwind of a day that she's had. ] You'll have to tell me what your secret is.
